I love food! I really really do.
I am over weight... I know what I should do about it and I have read books and things online about every diet, every healthy eating idea that has been written. I know how many calories I should consume per day and I know how much exercise I should be doing. So guy's, I ask my self why am I over weight??? well I will tell you, it's because I cant stick to anything, it's boring and fatty, sugary food is just so amazingly good...but something needs to change, for me and probably for many of you because although I love food I also love life, I love being active and able, I love working hard and playing harder, I love walking my dog and riding my horse and I love my family and friends and these things folks, are far more important than junk food. We need to keep ourselves healthy and fit for all these amazing things that we love to do, our diets may not be affecting us now but in 10, 15 or 20 years time it will be a different story...So I'm going to make that change starting today and maybe you should too :-)

I have a 2 week head start on you. You are going to do great. I know it. I truly love food too. Nothing has changed other than how I eat and what I eat. I am going to eat lovely luscious food while I am in losing mode. I even bought wonderful vegan cookbooks so I can try new ideas.
I switched to vegan whole foods and cut out sugar, except for a treat maybe 2 times a month. It is working wonderfully for me. Keep in touch. I want to see your progress.0 -
I LOVE FOOD, TOO! I just... I really do. Lol.
When I'm about to eat some no-no foods (fast food, sugary, fatty yummy delicious bad for you food) I have to call upon my self-control and ask myself: "What do I want more? This deepfrieddonutburger right now or a healthy body forever?" It's tough to say no, but it is SO worth it!0 -
I love food too. And I love all the bad food. Cheese is a favorite. So is bacon. Sausage is up there too along with Cheeseburgers (see look we are back to cheese again). .And for many years I just kept eating all the bad food and getting fatter, thinking that it was inevitable, that I could not control myself.
Well its not. If you do research and look around and ask other people what they are doing, there are recipes out there that are super yummy and also healthy and can be eaten as part of a losing weight diet. Planning ahead is key, so that you have healthy food around you and that is what you grab. Along with that, on this website you have the most awesome support group ever.
And the feeling of being in control of your food (instead of it being in control of you) is a better feeling than eating cheese and really for me thats saying an awful lot.

I love food too and I with some planning of my day I make sure to eat the food I enjoy. You don't have to cut anything out, you don't need to label food as good or bad it's food.
I learned moderation, portion control and planning.
Here's some information that might help
Log your food accurately and honestly. Go for 80% good choices the other 20% don't worry so much about. I eat lots of delicious food and have consistently lost. Keep it simple find a REASONABLE deficit:
If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal

Find an activity you enjoy doing - I found I love to ride my bike and lift heavy stuff

Lots of clarity! I'm very impressed with your weight loss. It all gives me hope. It can be done. I don't have to be desperate, or in denial, or watch my health go down every year because of excess baggage. I don't have to 'do or die' crazy diets or food plans. I don't have to again hoist what a bud refers to as 'the slow dead weight of the will'.0 -
We all love food. I personally adore the fatty and salty stuff the best. And beer. And wine. And ice cream, donuts, and cookies. But I love being healthy more, and I've found activities like lifting that I actually enjoy more than eating. Okay, that may be an overstatement, but you get the point. Food is amazing but in excess it will kill you. There are a lot of things like that. Moderation is key.0

I'm with you. Food is one of the biggest pleasures there is. That said, you don't have to completely give it up or eat boring stuff. You just have to eat what you like but less. Is as simple as calories in and calories out. I know it's harder than it sounds but it is achievable. I know from personal experience that 99% of the times I eat too much (and then I feel sick and wonder if it was worth it) is because I eat fast. I'm trying to shove as much food in my face as possible before I feel full. I will probably always struggle with that but... If you are able to practice mindful eating, it will go a long way towards the goal of eating just enough. I went to a lecture on this once and it was, indeed helpful and one of the things we were told was: If you are going to eat bad things, at least eat the hell out of them. Meaning: take the time to savor each bite, think about the flavors, the mouth feel, etc. Enjoy it rather than make it a race to get all of it in you and then realizing you don't even remember what you ate.
Also, I'm sure I don't have to tell you that if you log EVERYTHING you eat it will give you a better perspective on what you are putting in your body. Some days I look at my food diary and I'm shocked by what I eat and it guilts me into doing better next time

In my live I've never been overweight the way I had 5 years ago even though I eat a lot.
But now I'm only 1 Kg away from my goal :drinker:
Hopefully when my sister & her daughters come to visit me I've already achieved it & get the six packs figure I want :bigsmile:0 -
You love food? We all here love food! You don't have to end the relationship, just modify it and break the cycle of abuse. You can eat whatever you want; barring any health or binging problems. Just burn more than you eat. End of story.0
