I'm hypoglycemic. I have to eat frequent, small, high protein, low glycemic index meals. Or, I'm supposed to I should say. I'm learning how. :happy:0

This does not have to be dangerous at all! The answer is PROTEIN! Carbs will raise your blood sugar fast and it will comes down too fast. Then the complex carbs don't raise as high but it still comes down a tad slower. Then it is fats, then protein. Both of them don't spike your blood sugar and will keep your level from dropping too fast. Your best bets will be low fat cheese sticks, hard boiled eggs, and turkey. Cottage cheese works well too. I like to take a deli slice of turkey, smear it with a little mustard and roll it up and place 2-3 in a baggie for snacks. A few almond will also stave off the dreaded sugar slump. Good luck.0

I agree with this poster - its best to work with your dietician and your doctor.0 -
I am type 1. I have found that eating complex carbs as well as lots of protein works for me. Also checking sugars before exercising and eating a snack when necessary help alot.0

Hello!
I have Type I diabetes was diagnosed 23 years ago. Losing weight is always a challenge, but work closely with your dietitian and physician and you can achieve your goal What specific challenges are you referring to?
1-not being able to work out for too long without having to stop and snack
2-not being able to lose too much too fast
3-always packing snacks and food wherever I go( even more so since I'm vegan)
Oh and to people asking what I'm eating-I do eat a lot of protein and fiber, drink a lot of water, eat complex carbs, and it all helps me feel better for longer.
Oh to katydid-It is dangerous for me since I have epilepsy and will have a seizure if I don't watch my blood sugar.0 -

With all of those factors, I would say you need to talk to a nutritionist. They will be able to build a diet for you surrounding your being vegan, epileptic, and diabetic. They'll be able to give you healthy, filling meals and snacks and tell you when to eat them during the day, how to time them with workouts, etc. Good luck!0 -
With your challenges, I encourage your tenacity. Although it seems frustrating, your hard work will pay off. I'm sure you have a great medical team to help you with the technical stuff, we're here to offer support. Good Luck!0
