Any ideas on how to still be able to wear your rings durring loss? I wear 5 and they all have some kind of meaning to me. Not just for show (engagement ring, class ring, "mom" ring my mom gave me while prego that was my grandmas, another ring of my grandmas, and the first peice of jewlery my fiance got me ever) I've had everyone on since they day I've got them. Only time they are ever off is when I'm washing my hair and I had to remove them when my daughter was born. I feel naked without them. What did you do to keep your rings while you lost? Still got 78pounds to go. No point in resizing yet

I only have one more expensive ring that I liked enough to keep. I ended up selling all the rest of what I had for the gold and using the money to have them resize this one once I was within about 5 pounds of goal weight but until I had that done I did get to the point where i had to wear it on a chain instead of my finger.

I ended up having it sized it down 2 sizes but it turns out I should have gone for another half size. oh well...lol.

    Google - ring guard -

In a pinch you can wrap some string or yarn around it.

Different fingers are different sizes. If you are right handed, the fingers will be a little bigger because that hand is more muscular. I am currently wearing my engagement ring on the right middle finger.

You can always invest in a pretty chain and wear them as a necklace.

When you do have them re sized shop around: I know several people who went down in ring sizes and got their rings re-sized for free because they let the jeweler keep the gold/platinum/silver that was taken out to make the ring smaller.

My engagement rings the only one still fitting right. I did try moving them around but sadly my hands are both about the same size so it didn't work. I've moved them all over the place.

I think I might end up doing what someone else suggested and wearing them on a chain. I have a neckless sitting in my jewlery box I never wear anymore.

I never knew that someplaces would re-size for free. Ill for sure look into that when the time comes. Thanks for the tip!

Didn't think id really have this problem, not yet anyways. I'm back down to pre-pregnancy weight (I've always been big) and I wore 3 of the 5 then just fine. And when we got my engagement ring last feb it was in a size 5 1/2! My hands have always been small.

The least damaging way to re-size is to use the method for people with skinny fingers and big knuckles. Have the jeweler solder on some little balls inside the back of the ring. For some styles (for example, eternity rings or channel set styles) this will be the only way to resize.

Over here in Australia some jewellers will attach a ring clip on for you - it's a piece of gold or silver that clasps inside the underneath of your ring to keep it snug on your finger.

Currently the only way my wedding ring will stay on is because I'm wearing my grandmother's wedding and engagement rings on top of it. Mind you, they're now becoming loose and I'm not sure I want to move them to a bigger finger...
  • I wore mine on my middle finger (which turned out to be appropriate! ) until I was ready for the permanent sizing.
