I have a neice that is breast feeding and is really ready to start loosing some weight. Baby is 3 months old. I have read no less than 2,000 calories to maintain good milk producion. Anyone have any suggestions from their own experiences?

Every mother varies, but generally, if she's breastfeeding full-time (no formula) she should add about 500 calories to her intake. Maybe have her create an account here to get a general idea of what number to shoot for? She could plug in her current weight, height, and set loss goals to about 1/2 a pound a week (drastic losses aren't good). Then add 500 calories to the daily suggestion. Depending on her fitness level she can slowly work back into some exercises too. Hope this helps!0
