People acting like children at work

  • Put a fake lunch in the fridge laced with a laxative or ghost pepper extract. Or both. The person that steals that will think twice next time.

It's not worth the hit I'll take.

I had to make a sign to put up in the two bathroom stalls at work, TO FLUSH THE TOILET!

I get blamed for colleagues mistakes when it's my day off so they can get away with it!

Not work related but I used to have a cousin stay with me (He was in his late 20's) I'd make my kids school lunches the night before and put them in the fridge with their names on the bag. This winner used to eat them! So my daugher who was about 11 at the time, made a "fake lunch" and put oatmeal and cayenne pepper on bread with Nutella on top. The next evening he asked her "Krissy, do you like the lunches your mother makes for you?" And she said with a straight face "yep" LOL. Do that with lunches at work

My biggest peeve is more high school level than "childish". Whispered conversations drive me up the wall! Seriously, you're not working anyway, go find a conference room to gossip in, there are plenty! And it's not because I'm paranoid and think they're talking about me, I just hate that constant psss psss psss sound. It's almost as bad as nails on a chalkboard to me.

Besides that, it's mostly messiness that bugs me. Not flushing the toilet properly, leaving pee on the seat, leaving water all over the sink when you wash your hands, leaving foot in the kitchen sink when you rinse off your dishes (gross), leaving dirty dishes in the sink to soak and forgetting about them. Oh and not cleaning up all your toast crumbs when you're done with the toasters. It's amazing we don't have more bugs in the building... And you have to wonder what these people's homes look like.

Sort of unrelated but the grossest thing I've observed is people rinsing out their dishes in the bathroom sink. The kitchen is like 15 steps away - do you really not have the time or energy for that short trip? Aren't you freaked out by all the bathroom germs being around the dishes you eat off of? Nasty...

I am friends with a male co -worker, so rumor has it I am screwing him...

in one of my last jobs, i was friends with a female co-worker. the rumors started behind our backs and eventually, I was called into HR to be asked if she and I were having sex at work. So... that was fun.

it was one of the most ridiculous situations I have ever been in.

Theft and douchebaggery is not childish behavior.

    Agreed.

I would consider decorating your office/cubicle with children's toys to be childish behavior. People who have cubes with toys, stuffed animals and other like items can be seen as more unprofessional than others.

I work in IT, so every guy I've ever worked with is guilty of this. IT cubicles are action figure city.

Yeah this is IT, so there you go :) But yeah maybe childish behavior wasn't the best term. I didn't want to limit it to just people stealing your stuff. Also don't have anything against people being childish in the sense of having fun at work.

Stealing and workplace drama is WAY worse than some guys wasting money and cluttering up their cubes with toys.

I totally agree. But I think the same is true for people who fill their offices with too many décor items, plants, crystals and minerals (yes I've seen it) or even an excessive number of family photos (by 'excessive' I mean 30-100+ pictures in a small office, not six or ten framed photos in a large office). Then again I am just not a big fan of clutter.

Basically if you're fired, quit, or resign...you shouldn't need a U Haul to move out of the office in my opinion ;-)

If we get a bunch of boxes in and I am alone and finish them, I'll re-tape the boxes and stack them back up like I didn't just bust my hump getting them done. I'll leave a note apologizing for not doing them and than wait for someone to yell at me.

I even did that to a fellow employee who was working on a bunch of small boxes. She had to keep stopping to help customers. I would grab a box, pull the stuff out, and tape it back and move it to the bottom of the pile, and put the stuff away. By the time she got to the rolling rack, they were all empty and she was so confused. It was awesome!

At a past job I literally had someone steal my monitor. After that they provided me with a chain so I could lock my monitor to my desk.

Glad you don't approve of my decorating style. Still no excuse to walk into my office and steal anything that isn't chained down.

^actually I don't disapprove of your decorating style - I disapprove of the cluttered style.

I have a dead-pool & Spider Jerusalem sculpture in my office

I moved a box in our office the other day & found a half eaten sandwich & a *very* mouldy cup of coffee behind it - and I know *exactly* who left it there - a contractor we had in a few weeks ago ...
Is it really that difficult to throw your leftover lunch in the receptacle you pass as you walk in the door - the grey one that gets emptied daily?
He *knew* that box may not be moved for a while as it only contained spares ...

I'm never giving a visitor coffee in our office again!

All the stuff mentioned already isn't that bad. The worst things I've happened upon:

    1) I had Kreutz barbecue in a glass container in the break room fridge. (Smitty's has been featured on Food Network for tasting awesome.) When it came time, my container was missing. The next day, I saw it empty in the break room sink...unwashed. *kitten*.

    2) The ladies' bathroom on my floor is beyond the most disgusting thing I've ever had to experience. You'd think it was a bunch of kindergarteners. The seat has urine on it, blood is on the floor, the toilet seat cover someone used is still on the seat, pieces of paper towel and toilet paper are on the floor. And NOBODY knows how to courtesy flush when they're taking a dump. Come on!!! No one wants to smell that!

Yeah, leaving feet in the kitchen is just wrong on all kinds of levels!

We have communal dishes. People use the dishes, throw them in the sink without washing them and just leave them there to fester. Seriously, who does this (at work)?

At least they are in the sink. The lawyer I work for leaves his dishes in his office or on just on the counter or in the conference room or.........

I'm the youngest one at my office by 7 years. I'm 25. I sometimes think I'm the oldest one, with the way the women here act. They're all mothers who are so childish and cause so much drama and gossip. If my mother acted the way these mothers did, I would be appauled.

I used to work at call center and had my phone stolen out of my book bag at work. Well over two YEARS later, I got a call that my phone had been "found". I didn't even work there anymore at that point!
