Testosterone decreases after ingestion of sugar

Though there are several factors mentioned that still need evaluation, the evidence is clear that consuming sugar will decrease testosterone levels. The study points to high levels of insulin as the contributing factor. Those who are diagnosed as prediabetic are normally prescribed metformin and placed on a diet that restricts carbs to about 50 grams per meal in an effort to increase insulin sensitivity so that not so much insulin is present in the blood during fasting. It would be interesting to see further study as to the effects of an even lower carb restriction on returning the body to normal testosterone levels.
