For anyone who's weight has stalled

I went more than 3 weeks without losing an ounce (in fact, my scale showed a gain of a little over a pound) and I KNEW I was eating at a deficit so I stayed the course. Well, in the last 8 days I have registered a loss of 5.2lb. Why? Two things:
1) water. I do tend towards getting puffy when it is hot and humid out no matter how much or how little I drink and I could tell it was happening because my rings were fitting tighter. We are in a cooler period right now and I am sure I have lost some of that water, just as I am sure I will regain it when the temps go up again.
2) An iron supplement I take per my doctor's order (I was severely anemic last winter and my ferritin is still lower than ideal). Iron tends to constipate you and (forgive the TMI) even if having regular BM's, you may not get rid of everything. Eventually, it all goes out but in the meantime it can add to the weight the scale says. There are other medications and supplements that may have this affect.
What I am trying to say is, if you are stalled, first look at your logging and measuring to be sure you are at a deficit. If you truly are, then you just have to wait it out because the losses will come. There are always things happening in our bodies that we really have very little control over but just have to be patient and let the process happen.
Oh, and make sure the cat is not partially standing on the scale.

LOL. I couldn't figure out how I could have gained 5 lb until I felt the tickle of whiskers on my calf and realized that my little morning shadow was right behind me with front paws on the scale.0 -

Retention is the devil whether it's a digestive tract back log or water. Trying to fiber up to keep it moving!0

This is truth.
I had the same thing happen a month or two ago. Knew I was hitting my calorie goal or under it every day...but I couldn't lose a pound in 3 weeks. Then all of a sudden i lost 5 pounds over the next week and I was back on track.0 -

Knowing that the iron can cause GI issues, I make sure to get well over the recommended fiber (thank you Quest bars) and I also snack on foods that tend to have very mild laxative effects on me, mostly almonds and carrots.0
