hi all
I've new on the forum but I've been using the MFP iPhone app for a few days...
It says that my recommended daily calorie intake should be 2220, but so far I have been eating what I considered a diet (breakfast, midmorning snack, lunch and dinner...drinking only water) and its telling me that I'm only consuming around 1600 a day.
Is this ok? or is bad?
cheers

Without knowing height weight and activity level its a little hard to tell to be honest. 1600 is around the minimum for a bloke.0

Hi There and welcome!
If your trying to loose weight then it's not a problem to be under your target calories - as long as you are above 1200 calories per day AND you feel fine. I go through times where I am starving and consume 1500 cals a day (a lot for me!) and other times when I have to force myself to eat 1200. As long as you keep above 1200 (any lower and your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto fat) and listen to your body you will be fine, also make sure you accurately record everything that goes into your mouth x0 -

Hi
my height is 185cm, my weight 155 kgs and my activity level would normally be as low as you can get lol0 -
Welcome to MFP, you have come tot he right place for support. The scale will be the best indicator of your daily calorie intake. You just keep working your diet till you find what works for you.0

I know the minimum calorie burn for a guy is higher than 1200 for sure. I think around 1500 to 1600. That is the level I understand teh biggest loser uses for their male contestants.
I guess it depends on how fast you want to lose it. Right now 1600 may seem easy to meet. But as you go along you may find you are starving or getting hungry. I might would increase it.0 -
thanks for all the replies...sounds like I will just follow what I'm doing for now and play it by ear as it goes0
