Sometimes I turn on Let Her Cry, lay down in the shower and scream out "WHO HURT YOU HOOTIE?!" as I sob through the words.

I have days like that. Personally I like songs that let me float in melancholy. They resonate but never complete, if that makes sense.

I am SUPER eclectic too so all might not be for everyone.
    I like spiritual overtones too.

    Anywho....

Hospital by the Modern Lovers is one of the most tragic songs I know of.

    Still I'm Sad - Yardbirds

Possibly the most mournful song ever sung.

*sits back down, has a beer, and feels sorry for herself*

    Okay, so, my top 10:

The Bed Song - Amanda Palmer
    Rootless Tree - Damien Rice
Say It to Me Now - Glen Hansard
Stars are Underground - The Frames (what can I say, I'm a sucker for sad Irishmen)
    The Chain - Ingrid Michaelson
    Your Winter - Sister Hazel
Another Horsedreamer's Blues - Counting Crows (but let's be honest - ALL THE COUNTING CROWS  )
Into My Arms - Nick Cave
    Everyone's Waiting - Missy Higgins
When She Loved Me - Sarah McLachlan

The songs by Kill Hannah are pretty sad. However I do not recommend listening to such depressing things to make yourself cry. Instead perhaps go to a hospital and help take care of some of the children in there. It will force you to not cry and to have the pleasure to play and get to know some very sweet children. It should make you feel better pretty quickly!

I don't know if anyone said it already because I don't have time to go through all of these, but my go-to song when I feel that way is Tuesday's Gone by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
