Supplements; friend or foe?

I have just watched some youtube videos of people telling their weightless story and diet plan. I see some people who just look like they are eating wayyy toooo little so that their caloric expenditure heavily out-weights their intake (which I get in the attempt to lose weight but it doesn't seem healthy), but they take supplements to make sure they get the proper nutrients they need. Some of the supplements I hard people take are Adrenal Defense, Ultra flora, mag glycerinate, the general protein drink and so on and so forth.... I am considering going to my local health store and checking some of them out but before I have a sales person try to sell me something I don't need I wanted to hear some of your opinions. I would have no clue where to start... or how to balance a diet with the supplements. Are they necessary at all? And for those who have taken them, did they help? would you use supplements again in the future? Thanks!

No. Waste of money (and potentially dangerous). YMMV, but most "supplements" are rubbish, very expensive rubbish. Unless it's a vitamin or mineral, such things are not evaluated by the FDA (or possibly other governing bodies outside of the US). Look on the label--if it says something like "this product has not been evaluated by the FDA for...yada yada, it's probably not something you need.

Now, there are a few things some people need. I, for example, must take an iron tablet and Vitamin D drops daily (lab tested deficiencies in both). Others may need calcium or magnesium supplements, etc. BUT...these are medical deficiencies diagnosed by a health provider.

If you're considering these products, ssk your doctor. Better yet, SHOW your doctor (bring in the bottles or show the label info from the internet at his/her office) the potential things you want to take. Listen to their advice. Not ours.:flowerforyou:
