When should you weigh yourself in?

Why is it I always weigh less the day after my cheat day/don't work out day. When should I be weighing myself to keep track on this site?

Once a week, any day you choose but stick with the same day once every week. In the morning and before a workout if it is a workout day.0

For myself, it is better to weigh in the morning after the bathroom and before my workout.0

I like Friday's because I can relax a little on the weekends and always in the morning.0

Most people do it first thing in the AM after toileting and while naked. I recommend the once-per-week thing... doing it more frequently than that works for some, but for me it just increases my anxiety. I personally weigh in at the gym after work while wearing my workout clothes but not shoes. I keep it as consistent as possible to make sure that the data is not being influenced by outside factors, like time of day, clothing, different scales, etc.0

I usually weigh in when I go to Publix Sunday mornings to buy my health food for the week. Scale is pretty reliable. This is after an AM workout .0

Always once a week and on the same day every week. So pick a day any day, but weigh in again that same day next week and so on. And always first thing in the morning after you pee, it's the most accurate this way. I know some people on here like to weigh in everyday. That's just gonna drive you crazy. Your body weight fluctuates throughout the day. So I was told by many personal trainers that this is the best way. HIDE YOUR SCALE! If you weigh in on Monday don't weigh yourself again until next Monday. You can also do every 2 weeks or once a month, but always on the same day. I typically do every Monday morning. In addition to the same day of week, try to stay consistent with the SAME scale and time of day.0

I weigh in after going to the bathroom once a week in the morning. I like Weds mornings because it gives me a few days to work off a few extra calories that I may have consumed over the weekend0

I like to weigh on Mondays - it helps keep me doing my best over the weekend.
If I let myself have a break every weekend, I'd be getting nowhere! Instead, I try to live like I will the rest of my life (when I hit my goal). If I want a little treat, I have it (note the "little" part). I don't save it for a weekend or any one day of spurging (yikes!). But if I know I'll have a day of eating more than usual, I plan for it, before and after - by working out more (not by eating less).0 -
I used to do monday mornings but then I would eat a little more on the weekends and it would be a bummer everytime! Fridays are my favorite day. For me I work out most days during the week and I always do better with eating during the week too so it made sense to me to do weigh in after a hard work week and if then I reward myself friday evening with a great dinner! (with in portions!)0

It is because you have tricked your metabolism on your cheat day. If you are like most of us on here, you are restricting your calories, and occasionally your body will go into a starvation mode. The cheat day reminds your body that you aren't starving it, and the rest day allows your muscles to heal and shed off any water weight that they have been hanging onto. When you exercise you stress your muscles out and they hold onto water for dear life to try to repair themselves. The rest allows the time for repair. Some weeks, I will lose nearly an entire pound the day after my rest day.Why is it I always weigh less the day after my cheat day/don't work out day. I do best with twice a week, but I work weekend nightshifts and sometimes have 24 hour days so it is very tempting at 4 am to eat pizza/ chocolate/ potato chips or whatever is lying around the breakroom and nurse's station. So for me I weigh in every Friday morning (that is like my Monday morning) and again on Tuesday morning. This helps me stay focused for my calories and nutrition while I am at work, and I do notice that on the midweek weigh in I can weigh sometimes 1-2 lbs more but by the end of the week I am usually down again. I am pretty certain this is due to sodium intake, but doesn't really bother me. Usually it motivates me to workout on my days off! We're not counting our calories for nothing0

On the biggest loser Jillian says that working out can sometimes cause you to retain fluids. So you might be artificially high and then after a day off it would show your actual weight. *Shrug* I've seen something similar so there may be some truth to it.0
