Ok, I'm in the mood to find/discover some new music, maybe you MFP music lovers out there can help out. My music taste is pretty varied...I listen to Jazz, Blues, Country, Rock, Heavy Metal, R&B and Pop. There is some older rap that I like, but most new stuff I don't care for.

I'm looking for band that just aren't mainstream or a local up-in-coming band. I won't limit to "no rap", because you never know It might be catchy (maybe) or others might like it.

I'll start it off with three artists that get a lot of play time on my ipod.

--- Boy Hits Car - Been around for over 16yrs but still not mainstream, they've got 5 CD's out with some good music, though most of the time the lyrics are PG-13/NSFW. They have a few of their songs on Youtube that can be listened to.

Here's one of their songs "Escape the World"

--- Soulicit - a local group (Haysville, Kansas) that had two CD's out and tours around the area & east coast. The below song is a video that they did as a tribute to the troops. Two other songs on youtube worth checking out are "Complicated" and "Hell Yeah"

"Time to Fly"

-- Owen Campbell - found him when I was searching through youtube videos of auditions on "American's got Talent", he was on the Australian version. Great blues-rock sound. He's touring in the US currently...hoping he comes half-way close to the land of Oz

"Sunshine Road"

I'll come back and ad a few other different artists and genres if others want. Love discovering new music :)

If you are into electronic or something that has a solid beat for workouts, I listen to Infected Mushroom. They are listed as a trance group from the middle east, but they have a wide range of music. Along those lines, I do like Blackmill as well. The other realm of music I listen to when I work out is European metal. There are two bands that pump me up every time I hear them. Alestorm, which is listed as pirate speed metal, and I believe they are from Scotland. Also, Korpiklaani, which is a Finnish folk metal band. I know, I have a strange range of taste in music. Lastly, if you are a gamer of any sort, there is a band called Powerglove that does metal covers of popular video games themes/characters.

Have you heard of "rockmyrun"? It's an app on iphones that has a ton of workout mixes. You can choose your fav genres, etc. and it'll show you mixes that meet your requirements.

Check out Rob Bailey and the Hustle Standard.

their music is perfect for the gym as Rob Bailey is a pro body builder and his lyrics are gym driven.
