Bored with my food

Is anyone else out there tired of their food. I have been on the site for about three weeks and I am losing well. I also have a lot more to lose and I am really afraid that I am going to get totally sick of what I am eating. I am a meat and potatoes girl, and I don't really miss the sweets or bread much at all. I have managed to fend of those cravings with fruit and fat free pudding. My biggest problem is that over half of the things I normally cook for my family involve beef. I have been eating lots of chicken and fish with salads, but I and my brood are growing tired of the same old things every night. My kids eat chicken really well does anyone have any good low-calorie ways to fix it besides baked, broiled, and roasted. We also likes spicy foods.

I dont' know what your budget is, however this worked great for me. I hired a lady who is working on her Phd and she prepares dinner for my family every day. On friday she creates a dinner for Saturday as well. What I like about it is that she prepares about 5 servings and that is it. There are not a lot of leftovers and I don't keep eating because the food is gone. In additon to this she is preparing food that I have not tried so each night is exciting. She has been doing this for about 3 months. At first I was worried about the cost, however she does the shopping which has helped. I tend to buy things that I did not need or plan for. Also we are not eating out nearly as much. It took a bit of a paradigm shift, but we are spending less, having meals as a family and all of us are losing weight and feeling better. Finding the right person was the toughest part of this plan. I interviewed about 10 people before we hired Laura. I am paying her $12.75/ hour plus groceries. However feeling way better, losing weight, and having more family time makes this money one of the best investments I have ever done. It may be worth looking into. Good Luck!

if you exercise more you can eat more.
  • There are many good foods that can be prepared even with ground beef etc. You need to find ways to cut back on the fat for example using more lean meat, using paper towels to remove more of the grease etc. You need to be creative and find spices and ingredients that you can add to help with the flavor but not with the calories.

Wish we could all afford to have a cook but in the mean time....

    Try looking for recipes in

    allrecipes.com
    recipezaar.com
    recipes.com

or even do a search for low carb, low calories or low fat recipes.

I really hope this helps =)

You can still have the foods you enjoy but in moderation and try to subsitute some ingredients with healthier ones.

yep food can get extremely boring. just try different spices. used ground chicken/turkey - I have a wonderful ground chicken or turkey lasagne that is only 322 cals per serve and it's a decent sized serve.

don't be too scared of fat. as long as it's good fat it's not so bad but try to pair fat with protein rather than fat with carbs (eg - steak with cheese but not bread with cheese).

Red meat is fine though, not sure why you're not eating it so much? I always drain my ground beef - I brown it and then drain the liquid before finishing it off with whatever I'm doing to it (adding vegs whatever).

I eat chicken or fish twice a day and red meat once a day (ish - my meal plans change but generally something like that)

Nope, because I eat all the same things I've always eaten and am still losing weight. I just make them fit within my calorie goals rather than gorging endlessly on them.

Stop making me agree with you all the time! :)

This is how I've lost 27 kg since April.

Adding to the bizarreness is that almost every post before today came weeks or months after the previous post, so it has been repeatedly necroed, albeit not as extreme as today. It's the OP that will not die.
