Friday's "A HA!" moment. (not a good one)

*This is really just a rant of random thoughts I have had so far today*
I am so done with being lazy, overweight, and half-assing things. I really need to find my motivation and commitment. I am not happy with the lack of progress I have managed not to make this year.
So, I have signed up for my first half marathon in September in Montreal and I have not trained nearly as much as I should and now I am officially nervous about being able to complete the race. I feel like this is a common theme with me and I am sure a lot of my friends are expecting me not to compete it.
Also, I have been eating terribly and my body is really starting to feel the effects of my bad habits causing some major GI issues. I also no longer get excited to dress up and go out. Confidence is slowly decreasing.
I have realized this is the tipping point of where I stop and actually do something about this or I give up and spiral out of control until I am back up to my original weight of 235lbs. I took 2 years to lose 60lbs and now I am back up 30lbs. I really need to find a way to dig deep and find the drive. However, every time I think about all the hard work I had put in the first go around I find myself exhausted (not good).
Working full time and going to grad school full time can be a great excuse but I don't want it to be. I am essentially reaching out to all of you to give me any advice, tips, words of wisdom, etc. that you can.
After all, isn't that what MFP is for?

unfortunately theres only so much that we can say to help you out. obviously you know what you need to do to lose weight since it worked the first time around, you just have to ask yourself, is this what i want? are you willing to make the sacrifices that you need to and put in the effort necessary to accomplish your health and fitness goals?
its never too late to turn yourself around. but if you lack motivation then its a harsh reality that this probably will end up being a bit of a struggle for you. dig deep and try to find those reasons why YOU want to lose weight, doing it for the sake of proving your friends wrong just isnt enough.
dont think about the hard work you have to put in, just do it. thinking about it just complicates things, sparks doubt and can really put a damper on that internal drive. obviously a plan is needed to get you where you want to be but once you get that down pat, just dive in head first. the more you put it off the harder it gets.
work your way up to that half marathon slowly, itll be tough but its not undoable. you got this0 -
Get a training plan together, then follow the plan one day at a time. Don't think about the half, think about the mile or two you're going to run today. Then tomorrow think about the mile or so you'll run then. Etc.
A half is daunting. Don't let it scare you. You can do amazing things if you put in the work.0 -
a marathon! how exciting!!
pace yourself. don't bog yourself down with timeframes, just try to make it through. if you need to stop for a minute, stop. but keep going when you can. you have no idea what your body can do until you try. you can totally do this.
best of luck!0
