Jump rope- lower ab pain normal?

I started jumping rope yesterday, it's all new to me. I notice a lot of tightness and pressure, possibly pulled muscle, but I'm not sure. I Googled it with no result that I'm looking for. I jump rope at a pretty good fast pace for about a minute at a time with a few second break between 5 to 10 minutes. I noticed today I woke up and my lower abs were hurting. Very tight, and bulging out a bit, kind of like bulge during TOM, but that's definitely not the case here, as my cycle ended last week.
It feels like moderate pain just above the bladder area. I assume I pulled something? I'm brand new to jump roping, so I thought I'd ask to be safe. Thoughts?
BTW, I do double jump (which is like 2 small jumps between the rope swinging for 15 seconds) than single bigger jumps for the remaining 45 seconds, speeding up a little each 15 seconds. I'm starting off at a tolerable pace for now. But I'm in decent shape, I work out quite often, but mostly dancing & strength stuff.

you shouldn't feel pain there unless you overdid it...if you have something 'bulging' you may have developed a hernia..go to your doc to rule it out right away and don't jump until you do...you may exacerbate it if it is indeed a hernia. pulled muscles don't usually 'bulge' so i could be this but i'd be surprised...hernias bulge for sure and they are not to be taken lightly. they can tear larger and then you run into bigger probs. call your doc.0 -
Or it might just be DOMS as skipping is very good for the core (lower abs) I believe.0

Hopefully it's just DOMs, I welcome those. lol But I don't think I've gotten DOMs down in that region before that felt that tight. Just wondering about it. Making sure that's normal. My core is pretty strong, I can do regular push-ups with one leg in the air, sit ups, all that stuff.
I think the bloat could be me retaining water and stress. It's been a rough week, and I may have eaten a little too much salt. But I don't know for sure.0 -
I'm not sure tbh-- I have had lower ab DOMS before. Hopefully that's all it is but maybe take a rest day tomorrow and give it a chance to heal.0

Yeah, I think I'll put off Jump roping for at least a day to see if it improves.0

Pain is never "normal". That said, this doesn't sound like a big deal to me and I'd probably continue as usual until I got more feedback from my body.Yeah, I think I'll put off Jump roping for at least a day to see if it improves.
Wait, you just started jumping, you're already doing double unders, AND you're jumping every day?
I think I've found the problem0 -

I think I've found the problem
Well, I started jump rope the day before yesterday, (So far, it's only been 2 days.) but I don't think I'm a stranger to jumping. I play lots of Just Dance games on the advance songs, which has a LOT of jumping over & over, some even jump rope moves, so I've gotten used to it. I also did 30 Day Shred twice this year, which has jump rope (& double jump rope) & jumping lunges (OUCH) reps in between stuff. Only thing I can't do well is jump squats after intense static squats & whatnot.
Not a stranger to jumping, but I'm NEW to jumping rope consecutively. So far I can only do it for about 1 minute at a time. (The one hop jumps anyway) & I stop to breathe for about 10 seconds or so before going again.
As I said, I jump normal for the first 15 seconds, and speed up a little each 15 seconds. Just trying to work my way through it.
Are 'double unders' where you flip the rope twice per jump? I can't do that yet. lol No luck when I tried, I only flip the rope once, but the single hops for 45 seconds.
Seems like my lower abs are better today though. I think I just pulled something, MAYBE during strength. I've been doing a butt-buster...whatever thing from Fitness Blender--a 5 minute thing where you just do squats & some leg raises. But since I'm new to jumping rope, I thought it'd be smart to ask.0
