Hey all! I have a lot of weight to lose and I just cannot get motivated to stick with it. I wake up feeling like I can take on the world, then life happens and I need my mountain dew or favorite meal. I literally feel like crying or punching the wall if I tell myself, "no". I know food is an addiction and it will take time to change the way I think about it. I just need some ideas on what I can do to replace my eating that will make me just as happy. It seems like everything I do involves food is some way. I am 33. It would be nice to actually start living. Anyone have pointers, send them my way! Oh, And I actually have lost 20ish pounds in the last 7 months or so. I think it is due to my second job, which is more physical.

Eat "good" (whatever that means to you) 80% of the time. Fit yummy, portion-controlled treats into your calorie goal. Deprivation can lead to bingeing.

The Sexypants post should be required reading for all MFPers: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants

That is one of my problems! I hardly eat anything substantial during the day, so I feel famished by the time I get home. This leads me to eat 3X what I should eat! I will work on not depriving myself during the day!

Pack small, manageable meals and snacks with you to work. If you can get away for even 3 minutes, that's enough time to have a hard boiled egg, or half a sandwich, or peanut butter and celery stick. Eating frequently enough that I never get mindlessly starving really helps me stay in control of portion sizes when it's meal time.

Agree, read the Sexy pants thread - lot of good advice in there.

Get yourself some good lunch and snack ideas for work, and go prepared. Have a healthy snack organised for when you get home from work if you don't have tea ready, so you wont be tempted to keep picking. For me preparation was key - having healthy meals ready in the freeer, or in the slow cooker ready for when I got home.
