Very thin and not eating much...should I be worried?

Hey everyone! I've been trying to gain weight for a while now and have been unable to even though I've been eating well. I went from 120 to 105 and no blood tests explain it. I believe it's my anxiety and reducing my Zoloft dose a year ago which has done nothing but hurt me and my anxiety is out of control. So my doctor is having me go back up to 37.5 instead of 25. I took it tonight.

Prior to that I had diarrhea yesterday night and this morning (this was all before I increased) and haven't been able to eat much. I've had 2 pieces of plain toast, a little bit of chicken noodle soup, 2 apples, and half a baked potato. I feel very weak and my blood sugar is really low but I tried my best to eat. Plus it doesn't help that my weight is so low, now 103.5. I just want to know if anything will happen to me overnight? I'm very scared my vital organs will start shutting down or something will happen from low blood sugar. Should I be worried?

Maybe you've got a stomach bug which would explain the diarrhea, but this really seems like a question for the doctor. Press on until you have answers. Maybe get him/her to send you to a nutritionist.

    Good luck.

If you want to weigh more, eat more.

All the foods you have mentioned are very calorie light .Try denser foods so you dont have to eat such a large volume at first.
Go for nuts, nut butters, breads, milk, granola and protein. You need some heallthy fats in your diet-at a low weight though, dont get fixated on good/bad foods. All food is good nourishing energy for you at the moment.

Aw Darling you are going thru a tough time and your anxiety is making everything worse for you.

Perhaps you have just caught a tummy bug just recently and that explains the upset tummy. You are doing a great job of getting any food into your tummy under these circumstances..... keep on trying, especially with adding in foods that have high counts on both the calorie and nutrition fronts, ie. nut butters, avocados, smoothies (with full fat milk, yoghurt and your fav. flavourings.)

With the anxiety disorder and the change of meds. I wish you all the best. As someone else has said, keep on pushing as the Doctors, explain that you are wanting to explore all the possibilities behind your weight loss and it is causing you high levels of anxiety not knowing. Perhaps now would be a good time to get the expertise of a Nutritionist/Dietician to help you work out menus that will stop you weight from continuing to fall.

I can't answer your question about low blood sugars and vital organs shutting down in the manner which worries you....perhaps you have a trusted older person, Mum or Dad that you could confide in and if you are still concerned please go to seek Medical assitance even if it is out of hours.

Wishing you all the best and I hope the increased Zoloft is effective for you.

    Cheers
