Opinion time:
Do you think its ok to workout extra hard the day before lets say a holiday or special occassion if you know you will over eat your calories the next day?

I do think that you can "bank" some calories. Don't make a habit of it though, it soon becomes always in the negative.0

I think it's a great idea to try and minimize future damage if you know it's bound to occur (like Thanksgiving).. Can't hurt, right?0

I am so going to the gym before I put my turkey in the oven on Thanksgiving. There is a sign on the door, and I'm not going to miss it. I think it is so good to move more when you are anticipating a big eating day. Good luck!0

I think you need to workout extra hard the day of or the day after.0 -
I would work out the day before and the day after, also stick to reccomended calories on those days.0

Eat what you are going to eat and move on. Will you always be banking calories before for the rest of your life holidays, vacations, eating out? Eat whatever you want, enjoy without over indulging. If you go over calories for that one day, so what! Just make sure you are back on track the next day. That seem simpler!! :drinker:0

I don't think there is anything wrong with working out harder if you know you're going to overindulge the next day. I would also work out harder the day after as well. You have to find some way of getting those extra calories that you ate worked off. I agree though, it's okay for a special event/holiday, but don't adapt the attitude of doing this all of the time. It gets you into a hole you can't work back out of. I know... because I tried that philosophy before and it sabotaged weight loss after a while.

yes, because the point is to burn pounds off (3500 calories) so if you over eat one day by 100 but workout the next and burn 200 you are still 100 calories closer to that 3500 goal.0
