Question about calories

On my fitnesspal page I have a question about the green number that says calories remaining. Some people says I am eating too few calories and that may be slowing my metabolism down which in return doesn't make me shed fat and weight. My question is after I get done eating and exercising for the day does this green number of calories remaining need to be as close to zero as possible for me to meet my calorie goal in order to burn fat and weight faster? Thanks for the help.
