New Kid In Town...

So, I finally caved and downloaded the app and I've been using it for a couple of days. I'm all about this barcode scanning business :)

I have a good 100lbs to go and I refuse to get on the gastric bypass bandwagon. Believe it or not, I consider myself a runner. I've got 35+ 5ks under my belt as well as 4 half marathons over the past four years. The thing is I work nights (7 on and 7 off) and I'm having trouble finding a balance with work and exercise. I'm all about any help and advice anyone wants to give!

Thanks :)

Welcome! Take "before" photos & measurements. And read the Sexypants post: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants

You can do it! I can't fully relate to your situation, however, I have found that upon waking up.. I need to sit and make a "rough draft" of what i'm going to eat for the day to stay at 1200 calories and figure out how long I will be exercising if i do (which i've learned that I should do relatively soon after waking up when I have the most motivation haha) . And if i do how that will impact what I eat. Otherwise I end up eating too much too early and get too hungry later. Or my time slips away and I have no motivation to exercise lol. So, I guess, you gotta learn how you work with this whole dieting thing and try to work around the quirks.

But, the barcode scanner is definitely the biggest help ever lol. Makes the whole calorie counting ordeal much more easy. And you get to see all the other nutrition details too. Pretty awesome indeed. I do agree on the before photos thing, I did NOT want to do that when I started because I was just disgusted with myself, but now that i'm 55 lbs down I really wish I had them for comparison. Good luck to you though!
