I've heard people talk about macros but I'm confused as to what this means. Can someone please go into details about what that is? Thanks!

carbs, fat and protein are your macros, or macronutrients.0

It is basically your Carbs, Fats, & Protein.
In terms of how the should be divided you have something called IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros). According you some people, they say it is better than eating clean because you are open to eating any food as long as it if fits your daily needs for each category.
I'll use myself as an example. I need 2500 Calories, and in addition to that I need to eat 200g of carbs, 220g of protein, and 80g of fat. As long as I meet my daily needs I can eat whatever I want.
If you are wondering what they should be it is based on your goals. If you want to loose weight, you need a higher protein intake. If you are looking to increase muscle size, you need a higher carb intake. For maintenance, it is more balanced.
I hope that answer's your question0
