Why is everything good for you and "heathy" related so expensive!! Eating healthy cost more, workout clothes are expensive, memberships, and equipment!! Maybe if the cost of "healthy" things went down and "bad" things up we all
be a healthier nation!! JS!!!

It can be but doesn't have to be. Is there anywhere you can walk / run outside - free and I find it far less boring. Also with food organic stuff is pretty pricey but is also unnecessary, I'm really skint at the moment so I know where you're coming from but frozen meat and regular fruit and veg aren't too bad.

    really? interesting.

I don't pay a thing for memberships no need to. Equipment is only as expensive as you are willing to pay....my weight set etc cost less than 200$...my workout clothes...eh not that bad but I don't require Nikie or Hurley or under armour either...

Eating healthy not so much....esp since I grow my veggies in the summer, buy frozen in the winter (frozen fruit as well) and you watch flyers for food sales and stock up...and I live in Canada where our dairy and chicken is 5x of what it would cost in the states...

You would be a healthier nation if people just decided to be it has nothing to do with costs...

+1. It's only as expensive as you want it to be.

You don't need a gym to exercise - walking, running, body weight exercises are free. At home equipment can be improvised or bought cheaply, the occasional pool visit or fitness class when you need it can usually be done as a one off cost. Investing in a bicycle may be an initial cost but will last years. Cheap t-shirts are just as suitable for working out as name brand 'fitness clothing.'

Food - grown your own, buy local, find out when your supermarket discounts (either early morning or evenings on certain days you can get the marked down produce which is still fresh but nearing the end of it's shelf life.) frozen chicken breasts and fish instead of fresh can be cheaper. don't buy into the hype of special 'diet' foods - you're right OP, those are overpriced and won't provide any nutritional or dietary advantage over fresh whole foods. ..where there's a will, there's a way. good luck!

Shop in bulk for protein and use frozen veggies. Shop sales for fresh food

Go on you tube...there are many, many workout videos free. I do the 30 day shred...free

    go for a walk/jog/run.

Its not fashion on parade, old clothes work just as well as new.

    Invest in good shoes.

Workout clothes (unless you need some special equipment for your particular sport) are not expensive. "Cute", trendy name brand workout clothes are. Luckily my wife doesn't care about that stuff, she's taken back $80 tights in exchange for $15 ones from Target that I honestly can't tell the difference between. Now shoes can be a different matter, you need a good pair for running, but unless you are an elite runner (or have some orthodic issues) you probably don't need to drop $200 for the pair that shaves .8 oz off of their weight, the $80 pair will do. From what I've seen this hurdle to fitness would be eliminated if people weren't so concerned about how they look while working out.

Some of my best workouts are from doing things myself, that I would normally have hired someone to do. Good workout and saved tons of money, allowing me to do more. Garden, stone patio, gazebo, sprinkler system power wash drive way.

Walking, biking, swimming. All, little to no expense. I grow my own veggies, organic; double benefits: organic garden are harder to maintain (extra workouts) and you get the veggies!

    Just one ole man's opinion...............

Target for your clothes, gym memberships are the same price if your healthy or not, and the food doesn't have to be expensive at all, I think people just think they need to buy the most expensive thing to be healthy.
