So I've been lurking here for a while. I just started MFP about 3 months ago. I had already lost about 10 pounds when I started. My original weight was around 220 lbs. I'm now at around 190 lbs. I'm 5'3". Original pant size - 18 US. Current pant size - 12 US. Original shirt size - 2x. Current shirt size - 1x/XL).

  • Welcoooome! :) Good luck on your journey, I'm sure you can do it!
  • Thanks. I was diagnosed with breast cancer about 3 years ago, went thru hell and back. I'm clear now but I really let myself go and gained a lot of weight during and after treatment. So, it was time to get back on track and start living again.

Hello and welcome! I'm sure you can do this - after fighting through cancer, you've already proven how tough you are. :)

We are similar in height - I'm 5'4". My starting weight was right at 240, and right now I'm hovering around the 200 mark. (199.4 two weeks ago, 200.8 last week, 199.4 again on this past Saturday). I was just wondering at what point you started to tell a difference in clothes. Even after losing 40 pounds, I've only gone from a size 20 to an 18 (and maybe some 16s if they're "cut" big). Since our numbers are relatively close, I was hoping for a little encouragement . . . like maybe I can hope to drop 2 or 3 sizes in the next 10 pounds, lol.
  • I started seeing changes in my clothes at about 20 pounds I think. It has jumped quickly since then. I am an inverted triangle body shape though - broad shoulders and carry a lot of upper body weight, so my shirt sizes are not dropping nearly as quickly as the pants.
