Day 11 - 1200 calories

I freaked out just a little bit when I saw my goal allowed 1200 calories for each day. I am almost 68 y/o and started out at 20 lbs overweight. I did a BMI check to see where I should be. I have lost the first 5 lbs rather quickly and now it is moving slowly. I went back and read again the information provided and saw that my expected weight loss is 0.9 lbs/week. That's not much, but I made peace with it and am more relaxed and determined to stay with the program. The challenge is in finding a good variety in meals while still staying within the recommended guidelines. I did exceed my calorie intake twice but did not panic over it. I'm human!
I think finding foods that I enjoy and eliminating those silly empty calories is the key to success. Since I have 15 lbs left to lose, I understand that those pounds will be the hardest to get off. Whether we need to lose 200 lbs or 20 lbs, the last 15 will be the most difficult. So, I am signed on for the duration, doing my exercises at the gym 3 X per week and not trying to kill myself to shake loose a couple of extra pounds. Slow and steady will do it.
Since my husband is also trying to lose weight, we are in this together! That helps a lot. So, if you are also doing 1200 calories daily, don't panic and don't lose hope. The weight will have to go. Plateaus are part of weight loss and the longer I stayed at a certain weight, the more time it will take to move below that sticking point. Makes me aware of watching those small weight gains all along the way and this time, doing something about it before it becomes a big deal.
We eat clean. Fresh fruits and vegetables and limited amounts of lean meats. Love beans and greens, since we live in Georgia - a southern soul food. I can still enjoy those foods in smaller portions and I feel satisfied.
In it to win it!!!
