I don't understand why vegetables are all showing up with lots of sodium! For example, I have spinach in my omelet each morning, and it logs a fair amount of sodium - though not consistently the same for each choice offered by the food data base. Call me stupid, but I had no idea that raw vegetables contained sodium (I have high blood pressure, so this matters!) Can anyone enlighten me, please?

Are the veggies frozen, canned, of fresh?0

if you're looking at fresh veggies, not canned, you should use the item without the *. everything else should be taken with, well... a grain of salt.

Sodium is a naturally occurring mineral in all foods, some more than others. A "reduced sodium" diet requires that you watch these amounts and avoid the high sodium foods, like bacon, ham, potato chips, etc. The sodium in vegetables is not a big concern in your diet if you don't load up on the high sodium foods. Spinach and tomatoes are usually the highest in sodium when fresh, but canned and frozen veggies may have additional added salt. Look at the nutrition labels before you buy.0
