Monitoring calories- any one tried this?

According to myfitnesspal, I can consume 2020 calories a day to lose 1 pound per week.
That is 14140 per week.
I routinely work out 4x a week and I estimate I burn about 2200 calories.
That means I can consume about 16340 a week and lose 1 pound a day.
Just to be on the safe side, I subtracted 1750 calories (or half-a-pound) from my weekly total in case I am over- or underestimating anything.
That leaves me with my magic number of 14590.
What I want to do is to monitor my calorie intake by the week and not the day because some days I go over and some days I go under.
Has anyone used a weekly calorie count instead of a daily one? How did it work out for you?
