Hi all I am asking a question here, I know there is a half marathon here in sept and that gives me appoximately 4 months to train and I know I should run the course and try to run it in under two hours ideally around 1:30. I know its possible but does anyone have any tips on how to train my body to the fullest with out making me resent the fact I am going to do this????? I am open to any suggestions from veteran runners to newbies to marathon freaks(Id really love their tips) so help me guys!!!!!

Runner's World Magazine usually has marathon training info and training schedules...I haven't read one in awhile, they may have an online version, I'm not sure...have fun!0

They do have an online magazine:
http://www.runnersworld.com/
I got curious and I had to look! Looks like they have some great advice.0 -
I actually have a subscription for it, but was just wondering really if any people out there have ran one recently and offer kinda "newbie" advice instead of the way experienced runners they have, but dont get me wrong they do have great resources in it it is wonderful...i guess what i also need is the DO IT kinda thing...0

Wow...that's ambitious. How fast do you run??? I just ran my first a couple weeks ago and did it in 2 hours 38 minutes. Now, I was training for a 12 min. mile and got sick the week before, so that slowed me down a bit.
The things I noticed from doing my first half...
-Find a schedule and stick to it. I used the tools on Runner's World online to find something that suited me. It worked pretty well, but it was hard to stay on track near the end when I had 10 mile runs on Thursdays...especially since I work out in the morning.
-Adrenaline gets you through about half the race, but don't overdo it right away! It's important to really stick to your normal speed, because you WILL get tired.
-Find a type of "fuel" to help you along the way...be it energy drink, Gu, sportsblocks..whatever.
-Wear comfortable clothes you're used to wearing while running! My friend wore a running skirt for the first time on our race day...she greatly regretted it about 9 miles in because it was chaffing and she wasn't expecting that.
-Chaffing happens. It hurts if you're not prepared. Make sure to get some Glide or vaseline to put in spots where it happens (like where your arm rubs against your shirt...)
-If you're planning on training with a partner, make sure they are dedicated. The training is long and can get tiring, so it's nice to have someone to help you along the way and you'll probably end up doing the same eventually.
-Look on the web...there are some great articles on things to expect.0 -
