Anyone else not exercise or barely exercise?

Don't get me wrong - I love my aerobics. But I've found that I can easily lose weight simply by managing my food intake. My daily moving around seems to be enough "exercise" to help me continue to lose. Anyone else?

I've mostly lost weight with long periods of little to no exercise, though I'm trying to get more in now because I notice I'm flabbier at the same weight when I don't exercise than when I do. Plus exercise makes me happier and more energetic.

yes you can absolutely lose weight without exercise. the problem with this is there is a greater chance that the weight will come from lost muscle mass instead of fat. you dont want to end up as the dreaded "skinny-fat"

plus exercise is good for you. cardiovascular health is very important

My initial weight loss came from diet only. I added in a daily walk after the ice went from the sidewalks, but before that I basically did nothing except shovel snow every now and then.

I hardly exercise. I kinda hate it. But I am active in the summer. I go kayaking most every weekend. Leisure swimming in the evenings.
Just started yoga and I like it. But that's it.

Never was a gym rat, never will be. I lost most of my weight through a caloric deficit with no exercise.

I can too, I just like eating more than a non-exercise regime would allow. :9

Oh, er, plus all the health and energy and strength benefits that everyone else mentioned...

I feel like i'm the exact opposite of OP. I find it really hard to cut back drastically on what I eat, so I make up for it by going on the elliptical for a longer amount of time. I find it so much easier to exercise more than to eat a lot less.

I hate formal exercise. I hate the gym. I hate being down on the floor, struggling to do a push up.

I love going out dancing. I love swimming in the ocean. I am an avid pedestrian who has never had a driver's license.

I'm also severely anemic, owe my life to western medicine, and every day is an uphill struggle for my body.

I'm never going to have that coveted fitness model body. I'll still squish a little when I'm done losing weight. My highest weight was 169lbs, and I've kept off 20 of that for 5 years being an actress with a sweet tooth. I've weighed less than I am now, too. It's harder to get smaller without more lean body mass, and it gets harder every time you gain. I'd happily have a higher goal weight if exercise didn't make me miserable and dizzy.

Losing weight is hard no matter how you do it, so you might as well do it in the way that you can stick with.

Most of my exercise is low-impact, like walking, of which I aim for around 25-30 minutes 4 to 5x a week. I try to keep my calories around 1400-1500, but I'm not worried if I go over by 100 or so. I exercise to mostly help with my blood pressure and blood sugar.

I did my first two months or so with basically no exercise, but as the pounds came off, I hated how MFP kept cutting my daily calorie goal! I realized that if I wanted to keep eating at the same daily deficit and still eat the same amount of food, I was going to have to start exercising. So I've started to ease into the gym a little bit.

I also read this great book, The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business, and it talks about how much easier it is to pick up one habit at a time. So I started by picking up the habit of healthy eating, and now that I've made that a habit, I'll start working on exercise!
  • I'm out of my normal exercise routine due to recent skiing injury and surgery on my knee so my activity level is minimal, but it's been said before, you can't out-exercise a bad diet. I have really tried to clean up my diet and lose weight whilst gradually reintroducing exercise as the physio lets me. I personally find exercise really benefits my mood and energy levels and I love the achy-muscle feel days after strength training, but right now, it's all about diet.

    I currently barely exercise.

I work on my feet 38 hours a week, and ride my bike 10 min to and from work every day so I've found that losing weight just by modifying my eating habits has been incredibly easy.

I AM however looking to get back into weight training soon :).

i only lightly exercise. i walk my dog, do yoga once a week, occasionally dance/or do an aerobics dvd. i aim for 90 minutes a week, and usually meet it.

    down 50lbs, maintaining now.
