Hello! I hear so many horror stories about carbs these days and I was wondering if I could get your opinions?
I get around 200g carbs a day. I never really eat junk food though, most of my carbs come from

looots of fruit and vegetables
fruit smoothies
wholegrains
plain yogurt and milk

However for a 5,4 girl, is the amount of carbs I'm eating unhealthy? I can get up to around 60-70g sugar on these foods too..

Thankyou!

Assuming you have no health conditions that would be affected by carbs, the important thing is how that level of carbohydrates fits into your overall diet. It really only becomes unhealthy if the carbs are edging out fat & protein.

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/819055-setting-your-calorie-and-macro-targets I like this link for figuring out your macros, but there are certainly other schools of thought. A lot should depend on your overall goals, exercise routine, energy levels, etc.

Carbs aren't the devil...they're just the latest and greatest of dietary boogie man. There are a number of factors that would go into determining an optimal carb intake....i.e. activity level, type of activities performed, medical conditions or allergies, insulin sensitivities, etc.

There is no right or wrong amount of carbs....they are just a macro-nutrient, they're really not the boogie man.

    Agree with above posters.

Also, there are good sugars and bad sugars. Fruit is good for you!
