How many minutes of non-stop jump roping do you do

Just wondering, about how many minutes do you guys last jump roping before you mess up or get tired and stop or have to restart?

Man, in middle school gym class we kept going and going. The last person standing was Skipper of the Day, and the highest I made was Skipper of the Month. Skipper of the Year was crazy hard, cuz it was all the SotMs from all the classes, and it would be a big skip-off, last one standing, and we'd be doing it for like a solid 20-30m.

Needless to say, every time I hear We Built This City I have this uncontrollable urge to grab a jump rope.

I jump rope for skips, not time. I'll usually do 10 sets of 100 skips. It's not my workout though, it's just something to work on my footwork after I hit the bag and get my blood pumping. I'm really heavy so it's pretty difficult for me.

Oh I see. That's still a good amount of skips.

I super-set 1 exercise each workout with jump rope (i.e. go right from the exercise to jump rope, then right back to exercise. For the exercise I'm doing 4 sets of 20 reps (at a slightly lower weight than what you'd select if going to failure) and go.

I'm currently doing 2 minute jump sessions and I range from 200-260 jumps.

The extra challenge comes in the form of needing to push tired muscles associated with whatever training session I'm doing. On shoulder and chest day, the challenge is keeping my arms rotating. On leg day the challenge is jumping. Since this is one giant super-set, heart rate stays high the entire time. I've never just jump roped outside of a workout, so I'm not sure how long I could go if all I was doing was jump rope.

i'll do it anywhere from five minutes to a half hour at a time

i've never paid that much attention to my longest streak without a miss but i miss all the time

i'm always trying to do a different 'trick'/sequence tho, so i'm not that upset when it happens, so long as its not happening so much that its frustrating the hell out of me, then i'll just do a jump i'm better at.

i honestly feel that the standard two foot hop takes the most energy to perform lol. not counting double unders. or maybe its just that doing other stuff is more fun and therefore seems easier.

Wow... 30 minutes! Very impressive. I think I could go about 10 before needing a break. Or used to be able to - I remember doing 1500 revolutions once.

Maybe 5-10 minutes, then a strength move, 5-10 minutes, another strength move and so forth, it's a good way to get up to at least 20 minutes or more at a time.

i mean, its not balls to the walls all 30 min. ill stop for up to a min sometimes or just slow down the pace.

I'll count to 500 doing the two foot hop to warm up and then crank the music and try to go as nuts as i can

what type of rope do you use?

i have one thats basically a braided steel cable in a plastic coating and a more traditional rubber one.

the rubber one is not weighted but the 'rope' itself feels very heavy compared to the cable.

i'm thinking of getting a beeded one because i think it keeps the rope from binding up when you start crossign over hands and what not
