Pumpkin Pie Spice

Options
Hi all

Need cooking advice...

I am making a Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie for Thanksgiving. It calls for 1/4 tsp of ground ginger, 1/4 tsp of nutmeg and 1/4 tsp of ground cloves

I have some "McCormick's Pumpkin Pie Spice" . I was thinking I could just use 3/4 tsp of that instead of the above. The incredients in the Pumpkin Pie Spice is:

Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg and Allspice

Any good cooks out there know if this would be ok, ie: a good substitue?

I think the ground cloves will make an important difference to the flavor to cut through the cream cheese flavor. If you use the pumpkin pie spice, I recommend at least also adding the cloves.

I think the cloves are important, however, if pumpkin pie spice is what you have on hand and you want to get it done it will totally be delicious.

Allspice is a form of pepper, which has a very similar affect to cloves. It often works as an alternative. I wouldn't see any reason to buy cloves.
