Hello! I've been on MFP since late in 2012, when I lost 20 lbs that I needed to lose. Sadly, they found their way back! I turned 40 last month, and was looking at photos of me roughly 18 years ago when I was in the military when I decided that I needed to get back down in weight, not only for me, but for my two kids (both boys...ages 13 & 7) as well as my wife. I've been fighting high blood pressure, and with a family history of diabetes...those are health problems that I certainly (as I'm sure no one) needs!
I work a rather sedentary job most days, spending way too much time behind a desk. That, and 16 years of marriage have been really good to me. I've grown to like eating whatever I want, in whatever portions I want. Thus, I've slowly crept up from 190 lbs to 290 lbs. That weight must go!
So, I purchased a Fitbit, and began logging everything I ate once more. I've ramped up my exercise (just walking 5+ miles a day for now, but I love mountain/trail/off road bicycling) and the two combined have started me on my first step back down the weight loss road. Six pounds in, and it's a long road ahead (104 left to go!), but right now I'm loving every minute of it. In the process, I'm learning a heck of a lot more on how to take care of myself!
I'm looking for friends to help me stay the course, and in turn I'd gladly return the favor in motivation and cheerleading. I'm also working on motivating my wonderful wife to join me on this journey back to health, and hoping to motivate others at my work place as well.
Thanks for reading!
