    Log in every day!!

Also, a common dieting/weight loss mistake is that we tend to overestimate our exercise calories and underestimate our food calories. BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF, it is only going to hurt you in the end if you aren't honest!

Set realistic goals. If you are currently eating 3500 calories a day and no exercise, your body will hate you if you try to go to 1800 calories or something like that. Start working exercise and healthier eating in as you see fit.

Weigh-in once a week, pick any day of the week and do it the same time each week. I do Friday's, right after I wake up and go to the bathroom.

Take MEASUREMENTS. Sometimes you may not see results on the scale, but rather you find your pants are looser, or your shirts are baggier. Taking measurements is a great way to keep track. I would say take measurements once a month (they won't be changing week to week).

Start a motivating exercise routine. Whether its a DVD, a class at your local gym, or a training regime you find online or set up yourself. Hold yourself accountable. Importantly, make sure you have at least one rest day a week! Don't want to overexercise and hurt your body!

Trust MFP. Eat the amount of calories it recommends you to eat. And don't be too far from it. It's a good method, and it works, but UNDEReating is counterproductive. Your body needs fuel in order to get that fat off!

Add some MFP friends with similar weight loss goals or obstacles as you, and get involved in the site! Use the message boards to ask questions or search for answers you may need.

This is all I can think of right now :-P HAVE FUN!! and GOOD LUCK!
  • Record every day, if you skip you will not remember everything you put in your mouth. So my best advice is to figure out a way to put the recording into your schedule, at least twice a day or more often. Measure, measure, measure it will keep you honest. I do not eat anything without knowing how many calories are in it.
  • Thanksssss there were some very useful tips there. Its true though, i lie to myself alot to feel less guilty about what i've eaten lol.

Make your diary public. Not because I am a stalker, but because, one, it might give you pause before you that king sized Snickers and also if you ask for help, advice comes much easier.
Don't worry about being judged. Who cares. I am convinced all you people are just in my head anyway.
