Low Carb & Diabetes: Critical Review & Evidence Base

All health issues seem to be taken in isolation. Recently I have taken an interest in thyroid function. Something which is never, in my personal experience, taken into account has been thyroid function particularly since the "treat to numbers" ideology commenced in the 1970's when someone decided most people fell in this distribution and problems only occurred after that level. It seems they did not take into account that many people were and still are iodine and other mineral deficient. The push to low fat can be contributing because most low fat and no fat dairy products like yoghurt can have little or no iodine in them when the full fat versions would contribute a reasonable amount to our diet. Then he humble egg, held to task because of a perceived cholesterol problem, when cholesterol is more available in red meat. If a thyroid is not functioning well for the "body it is in", it can cause so many problems and contribute to others including diabetes because the thyroid is there to regulate many of our body's systems sometimes on its own and others in conjunction with the liver and pancreatic system to eliminate toxins. Please take a look at your national Thyroid support organisation sites.
The medical profession is divided in the appropriate levels the active thyroid hormones should be. The initial hormones are the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone TSH, and the active Thyroid 4 which becomes Thyroid 3. It seems to be there is a need for the T4 to be more available, T3 being about 1 quarter of that number. Many people who had over active thyroids say they feel better when their TSH is between .5 and no more than 2. There is so much to learn about the way a healthy body works how it responds to or copes with the different nutrients in our foods. I wonder if the population were enabled to operate at these levels would there be a laudable reduction in peoples suffering?
Wishing everyone improved health.0
