What do you want to look like?

OP signed up in May 2012. Took 2 years to come up with a good first contribution to this forum. And this was the result. My mind is boggled0

Many of the images I see posted are people who are (1) blessed genetically and (2) have spent basically a lifetime working to look the way they do.
I am never going to look like that. EVER.
I look back on my twenties and thirties and how miserable I was that I didn't look like I wanted to look. I wanted to look like those beautiful media images I saw but I was just an average run of the mill gal.
Now I realize I was so busy wishing for more that I did not appreciate the beauty that I did have. At 54 when I look back at pictures of myself I see the beauty of YOUTH. But do you think I appreciated it then? No. I was too busy wishing I looked like that beautiful tanned girl you posted.
(And that tanning thing? Yeah, that looks good now but if you do it, there is going to be a price to pay later. You think it will never come but...it does.)
Its fun to dream and it's great to have goals but you don't have to be perfect to be beautiful and fit.0 -
I want to look like I look now....for now. Next summer a little leaner still.0
-
I am aiming for making changes so that I am a healthier and happier person and i think the rest follows. Mind first then body for me at minute0
-
I'm just shooting for my belly not hanging over my belt... perhaps I should aim higher.
Also SPAM is delicious!0 -
Me.
If that's not too narcissistic, of course.0 -
Tiny and even a bit bony, but "toned" and not skinny-fat.
I want to suprise people about how strong I am and how much endurance I have and not make it obvious by a muscly look. However, I do understand the appeal of that, it's just not for me.0 -
I want to look like a healthy, happy version of myself, and I can tell you it's certainly not the "hollywood look".0

Different take: for me, fitness isn't about appearence, it's about function. Your physical appearence is just the artefact of what kind of life you're leading.
I want to look like a guy who swims 3-4 times a week, has a lot of fun doing it, and participates in a couple of swim meets every year.
I want to look like a guy who does a couple of long run events - half marathons or marathons - each year.
I want to look like a guy who loves to get on his bike on a beautiful day and ride as long as he has time for.
Acutally I don't even care about looking like that guy, I am just having fun being that guy.0 -
Another going for the NON "Hollywood" look (whatever that is...).
This level of fitness for me, please:
ETA: I had to laugh, didn't notice the tiny dumbbells she was holding. FYI--THOSE weights will NOT get THOSE muscles--tip of the day:happy:
As long as you understand, even the model in that picture doesn't look like that on a day-to-day basis.
She didn't even look exactly like that the day the photo was taken (pre Photoshop)0 -
I just want to be healthy, honestly. *shrug*0

lets see...I want this back:
Possibly to be a slightly lower BF% than in the pics, but currently just getting back to that would make me ecstatic.0 -
I want to look like me but with less bodyfat and more muscle. I'm hoping I'll get to this in a year of heavy lifting.0
-
I want my thighs to be slimmer, and my upper arms. More defined cheekbones, and a flatter tummy. Also a firmer bum. I'm naturally large busted and wide hipped with a small waist, so it is hard for me to find fitspo that suits my bodytype.0

I want to look like whatever my body looks like when I am operating at peak performance levels in the activities I choose. I work out for performance and whatever aesthetic comes with that, well it is what it is.0

I want to look normal...for me thats a size 14 or 12 even. I want to look like her...

seriously though, if i could take all the fat from my stomach and inject it right into my butt and thighs, i'd be a happy, happy woman0 -

You are making me feel better about myself with this photo. Ha-ha!
I'd be happier with less tummy and more arm/leg muscles.0 -
Uhmmm....
if it's cold enough to wear gloves, where are the rest of her clothes? I worry she's going to catch a chill...0 -
