Why are my hips still big?

Hello,

So we all know there is no such thing as spot reducing, but it's taken 5 months just to lose 1 inch in my hips. I find this to be very frustrating, but i'm not sure if that's considered normal. I've been running for over a year now and I go 2-3 days a week for 5 miles. I did 2 rounds (4 months) of Insanity and now i'm almost done with the 30 Day Shred. I've lost the weight I wanted, but it doesn't seem like anything is toning. I've been focusing more now on the leg machines at the gym (leg press and thigh press). Even my calves are still flabby and I thought they would have gotten tighter from running. I'm not sure what else to try or if anyone could offer advice or suggestions. Just to give you perspective in 5'3 at 118lbs. my measurements are 31,25,38.
Thanks.

Because there is something called a hip bone.

It could be bone structure. It could be where your body prefers to deposit fat first and lose from last. It could be the result of losing weight then "toning".

I understand bone is bone. When women get measurements done their "hips" are actually the top part of the thighs. there's no bone there just flab and muscle that won't tone.

Um . . . there's also bone there. But more importantly, your genetics determines whether you are apple shaped or pear shaped, and there's not much you can do about it.

You should consider strength training. I love running and run a lot, but to change your body composition, besides diet, strength training is the way to go. After that, patience. :)

Because G-d, Higher Power, the Universe, or your parents' genetics created you that way.

Real answer :) We're all different. Some people have wide hips.
