I am having the hardest tine reaching my goal. I had RNY surgery over 2years ago...those last stubborn 30 lbs will not budge. I exercise by doing kickboxing and T25. My diet is not alwYs the best... Days I can't eat certain foods or I just don't feel like eating.
Anyone have some inspiration, suggestions? :flowerforyou:

I lost almost 10 pounds just by drinking 2 L of water (I'm 5'1" for reference) and taking fibre supplements daily either in the form of inulin, chia seeds or psyllium husk. I know a lot of the weight loss was water, but some of it was definitely fat. The water and fibre helps fill you up so you don't need to eat as much. Moving forward you should calorie count but this can kick start your loss.0

Hi there,
I'm just chiming in to let you know that you are not alone with having struggles with just budging the last portion of weight.
Everyone, unless of course they are very lucky, the closer they get to goal the slower the weight loss and it REALLY tests one's patience and fortitude, also plateaus and stalls are very common (a real bugger) usually followed by a bit of a unexpected drop.....sadly weight loss is not linear nor predictable.
I have not had surgery....so I hope that my comments are OK. I have felt the same frustrations as you tho'.
Would it be possible or useful fro you to consult with some of the people who advised you prior to surgery and what to expect afterwards....maybe they will be able to suggest something that could be helpful.
You sound as tho' you are doing so many things right and I applaud your dedication.....may there be happier days ahead, perhaps too you could use this time to re-direct your focus away from the scale number to taking body measurements (inches lost are always a boost), even look into upping your endurance and prowess at kickboxing etc. If you think your diet needs re-evaluation this is also something that may help with this stall.
All the best honey. You are doing great.0 -
You lose weight by eating fewer calories than you burn. Log everything you eat & drink accurately & honestly. Weigh your food.

I'm right there with you. I had RNY about 3.5 years ago and despite losing almost 170 lbs., it's the last 40 that are driving me crazy. I visited with my surgeon and he gave me information (from their in-house nutritionist) about intermittent fasting. He gave me a handout but I found some info here, http://dailyburn.com/life/health/intermittent-fasting-methods/. Scroll down to #5.
Basically, I eat about 500 calories one day every 7-10 days and engage in activity on that day. Long story short, it is helping.
The thought of 500 calories was overwhelming even though I'm already at about 1300 a day - how hard would it be to cut that in half??
In a nutshell, my "fast" day usually consists of three protein sources such as
* Quest bar - some flavors are only 160 calories
* small can of tuna - about 120 calories
* 3 oz. grilled chicken breast - 100 calories
* Kroger carb smart yogurt - 60 calories a cup
The rest of my day is non-startchy vegetables. No matter how many pieces of celery or tomatoes I eat, they don't add up to much. I avoid fruit and carbs on the fasting day.
I will "lose" 2-4 lbs. in a day although the third day I may have a slight gain from having a more normal diet.
I hope this info helps. I have a goal weight needed so I can have my next plastic surgery to remove excess skin. I was willing to try anything and this has given me the little boost I've needed. I've lost about 20 lbs. in 3 months which is worth celebrating!
