Making the Cut...I hope...diet question

I started Making the Cut last week. I love Jillian Michael's but I'm questioning the meal schedule she has set out. The calories are pretty low. I have to add some because I'm breastfeeding, but I'm still 1200 short of where I'm "supposed" to be. Anyone done this, modified the diet by adding fruits/veggies/healthy snacks, and still seen some results?
