weight loss question

Hello, I have a question!
Say for the duration of the week sometimes you have been eating above your daily goal, and some days you've been eating below your daily goal, if you take an average of these calories (by adding up your weeks worth of calories and dividing by 7) and your average is near enough your daily goal, would that still mean you were on target to losing weight?
Sorry if I phrased it badly, here I'll give an example
Monday - 1600 calories
Tuesday - 1300
Wednesday - 1400
Thursday - 2000
Friday - 1600
Saturday - 1500
Sunday - 1500
Average calorie intake across the week: 1557.57
does this mean this person is sticking to their caloric goal, or...?
Thank you so much, and sorry for my rubbish way of explaining

Do you have the MFP app on your phone? If you do, click on Nutrition. Then click on Weekly and look at the bar graph. It tells you your average calories for the week, and how many total calories you have left for the remainder of the week. It will show you exactly the answer to what you're asking.
In short, yes it's basically OK to let yourself be a bit over and a bit under on various days, and try to make the end result for the week close to your goal.0 -
Ah I see, I don't have the app on my phone but thank you so much! Now I feel less panicked about my binge looool0

Im not sure but guessing it depends how much over in calories you go, if you ate enough to gain a pound eating a few hundred less wouldn't help you lose it.0

By seeing his diet plan it is very well assumed that it is a balanced diet and a person must definitely achieve his caloric goal.0 -

For some people, 1557 might not be enough calories (or it might be too much). Do you know your TDEE? If not, do you mind sharing your age, weight and height? as well as what kind of exercise you do?0 -

If your goal is to eat an average of 1557 calories a day, then yes. Your weightloss is not on a daily clock...it is over an average of time, so averagely eating 1557 calories a day (if that is what it takes to lose weight) is fine.0 -
Simply put yes. If you average your goal for the week you should lose weight. I am usually close to a little under my goal during the week and might go a little over during the weekend. I average out to my weekly target and lose weight pretty consistently.0
