Need help on achieving good push-up form

So one of my performance goals is working on full push-ups. I've been doing those knee push-ups and I just don't like having to wimp out. Yeah yeah, there's nothing wrong with knee push-ups but I want to do full form push-ups. My upper body strength has always lagged behind my leg strength so my initial goal was five push-ups.

I worked on it and now I can do five .... BUT I can't manage to get all the way down, nose to floor. I get half-way down and my strength gives out. How do I strengthen that part of the push-up?

I found when I started bench-pressing, my push-ups really improved in form and reps. I was crapping out at 15, now I can knock out 50 without resting. Chest flys might help, too.

I used to have this problem with diamond push-ups (hands together) Doing more push-ups in increasing volume, and working to get deeper will get you there sooner or later. It did for me.

Though I second the suggestion of pressing if possible. Being able to load a similar movement with increasing weight is probably the shortest route to the strength required to get your nose to the floor without falling over.
