It's making me hungry!

For some reason, when counting calories and trying to stay under 2000 cals a day.....I get super hungry! I'm constantly thinking about food. The first time around here, I was doing really well, but I felt so hungry all of the time.
Is it the brain or am I really hungry? How can I succeed if I feel hungry and the need to eat? How do you guys get through the days? Do you plan out your meals for the day in the morning or the night before and then not think about it the rest of the day or do you log each time you eat? Which works best?

Hi there...yes I do plan meals 1st thing in the morning so I know what to eat that day and stay in range...I have hungry days too and sometimes I give in, but I'm learning to discipline myself and the days that I give in to temptation are fewer and fewer and I'm still loosing weight...what helped me the most was a post to this site some time ago...one of our gentlemen said that he treats his hunger pains the same way that he treats a child when they need discipline...it takes practice to overcome the hunger and temptation...keep at it, never give up!0

I was the same way when i first started logging.I think i was thinking about it so much and subconsciously I thought I was going to be deprived. After a month of going over on my calories, I stepped away from it for a weekend and told myself I was going to eat whatever. Funny thinkg I wasn't that hungry and when I was I craved good things-CRAZY!!!!!It was really hard for me to get used to the fact i should be eating over 1200 calories b/c I exercise so much, I'm over it now:laugh: and I feel like I eat all of the time, but my body is getting smaller due to healthy eating AND exercise. I do plan my meals and only have healthy things in my house. I think about where I'm going to be during the day, my schedule, etc so I know what food(s) to bring with me. One thing I wasn't doing was drinking enough water, I thought I was but when I started logging it too I was shocked that I was way under what I should be drinking, I always slam a bottled water if I feel like I'm hungry then wait 20 minutes, If I'm still hungry I'll eat a snack. I posted on a topic so similar this morning- but for me the pains have only started since I readjusted my calories and lowered them. I actually really enjoy counting calories,and I find that it helps me feel less guilty, because if I grab a treat it is accounted for, and so I obsess a little less over the food. It might be a mindset change, so give yourslef some time.... the hunger, though, I am still working on somedays!

What helped me was eating 6 small healthy meals a day. I don't feel deprived because I'm always eating, but I'm (almost) never hungry and never full. It shrinks your stomach down so you can't eat large quantities in one sitting after awhile, and also keeps your metabolism up.0
