Calories earned for exercise

I was wondering how accurate the MFP site is in figuring out how many calories you burn doing certain activities. I worked out for 2 1/2 hours today and it has me getting an additional 900 something calories. That seems like a lot. I would be afraid to eat all of that. However if it is correct and I can eat an extra 900 calories I might want to but I don't want to gain if it is wrong. What do you think about how accurate it is? I would get a fitbit but I don't do that much walking. I mainly swim, low impact aerobics and weight lift.

MFP calorie counts are notoriously high. I don't use them, I use a HRM. But if I was going to use them I would take them down by 1/2.
Fitbit you wear 24/7 to track all your steps. It shows you when you need to be more active daily instead of just relying on "exercise" for your steps.
