Ok, so I’d like to know if it is better to workout twice a week for two hours or four times a week for an hour? Or is four hours a week still four hours a week either way? I’m referring to cardio/toning and not weight lifting.

It's better to workout four times a week for an hour. After each workout you get a nice after burn.

Primarily, anyway that your schedule allows your to be consistent. Then, whichever way will allow you to stay interested. Some can go in day to day and not get bored doing cardio for long periods and others get bored and need shorter sessions. Personally I would spread it out. Gets you in the habit. Also, if you skip 1 session, it impacts you less. Honestly the benefit of a prolonged HR due to a longer session is pretty much equal with exercising more often.
  • As a dietitian, it's better to exercise 1 hour four times a week. Two hour sessions are not the best for most people. One gets exhausted, do not perform as well, and do not maximize their benefits from exercise. It's better to really work hard for a shorter period of time 5 to 6 days a week.

Great thanks! I have been working out four days a week (trying for five) and have felt that my body is finally capable of working out at full energy (most of the time) for the first hour and was thinking if it didn’t matter I could easily give up my Tuesday and Thursday nights if it meant I got to have the rest of the week off. After thinking more about it and hearing your responses I think I’ll stick to what I’m doing now and just work on my form (getting those squats and lunges lower and lower) and keep trying to up my energy level during the workouts.
