You need to eat at a calorie deficiency in order to burn fat. You strength or weight train to strengthen muscle mass and build strength. Clean or junk food eating are personal choices.0

Calorie deficit for weight loss. Nutritional value for health. Many people would say that if you eat healthy 80% of the time and then 20% with treats (not junk, treats, less nutritionally dense foods) then you are doing just fine. There is no need to deprive yourself of the things you enjoy. Here's a great thread full of information:

Edited to clarify: I am saying whatever you are calling junk, I would call a treat, or less nutritionally dense foods. Clean eating is a very vague term and however you define it, someone will tell you that you are wrong.0 -
I love junk foods.0

Well, calorie deficit for weight loss. But since I'm not counting, when I notice my inches go up, I eat "clean" 2 meals of the day.
Because vegetables and fruit and meat are naturally lower calorie than fried food. It's just another way to create a deficit. It's hard to eat 700 calories worth of brocolli vs one cheeseburger...
But you can totally lose weight while eating junk.0 -
Its much easier to lose weight if you eat clean. Why? Because so-called clean foods (I call them whole foods) have more nutrition and the glucose takes longer to get into your blood stream and become fat. Basically you need the nutrition in whole foods more than you need the junk in junk food.
If you really want to continue to eat junk food, just make sure its a lot less than usual.
Basically if you eat only junk food you will be hungrier. That's why you are not likely to succeed in either the short term or the long term.0 -

Ja that's my understanding pretty much.
For me, I feel better, less hungry, less bloated when I don't eat Junk foods. It's also more expensive, I sleep less well, I sweat more etc. etc.
I'm not "eating clean" to the extreme, but the more fresh vegetables and whole grains the better. It also fills you up better than Junk food.
In fact, Junk food got me where I am, a good 3 stone overweight. I ate and ate it at University and stopped exercising, and now I can't stand it. The closest I get now is a burger in a pub on the weekend or a ruby at a restaurant once a month.0 -
Nope, you can be fit and unhealthy, just as you can be unfit and healthy. My aim is to be both fit and healthy, after all what use is looking good if your insides are a disaster waiting to happen. At least that's my attitude, and just as your bodyweight is mostly a function of *how* much fuel you put in it, so is your body health a function of *what* you put in it. A long healthy life doesn't just happen by accident, and even if there are many things outside our control, there are many things within our control0
