A calorie deficit is the only thing that will make you lose weight. You can use those workout programs to help create a deficit but as the saying goes, you can't out exercise a bad diet. Exercise is more for fitness and health. Exercise will increase the length you maintain the weight loss, allow you to eat more calories, help maintain metabolic function <-- this is really requires resistance/weight training, and a host of other good things. You can definitely start with any of those workout dvd's to get you into fitness. But honestly, the best thing to do is track calories daily and use a food scale to ensure accuracy. If long term you want to look fit, I would suggest getting a program that has more resistance training. All of those are heavy on the cardio.0

Most people don't lose a ton of weight with JM DVDs, but they do notice a loss of inches, which to me is just as important. They are great workouts which will help "tone" your body, but only if you are also eating the correct amount of calories.0

The other two posters are correct - calorie deficit = weight loss and JM DVDs usually show loss of inches
I love her DVDs I have a TON! Just remember when you are working out at home... you get out what you put in - it's easier to cheat yourself when no one is around - if you are truly dedicated you'll be fine and you will lose weight and inches0
