is me waking up to a 5lb gain overnight! :noway: I ate a lot, and a lot of carbs, so I'm thinking it's mostly water weight, the most I could have gained in fat is 1 lb or so, but still upsetting. I'm trying to figure out my next step. People made all these gluten free yummies just for me, now I'm not sure if I should eat them in moderation or throw out the lot given my sad weigh-in today :frown:
Anyone else gain from last night, and what's your battle plan moving forward?

Don't worry - it's not 5 REAL pounds. Just move on! Skip your weigh in if you want, because today is not really an accurate representation. Maybe weigh in on Monday after a healthy eating and TONS of water drinking weekend. I know i hardly ever have salt, so I am sure there was a lot in what I ate yesterday. It was worth it though. I never just eat what I want.
PS, odds are you also did not gain a full lb of fat yesterday.0 -
its probably water...just get on with it as though it didn't happen............don't be upset about it...we all mess up at some time or another!0

Although it was all GF, if there was any cross contamination in their prep areas, that could be your gain. Some people may not fully understand Celiac's (or the intollerance) and bake cookies and pies, etc where wheat flour is used which means the air is contaminated and as that dust settles on GF foods no one realizes it because you can't really see that's what's happening. If they were ultra careful to avoid cross contamination, it may just be your body is not used to eating so much stuff and is a little "top" heavy: everything in moderation.
Keep in mind, GF food is not always "healthy": Many GF foods are higher in calorie, starch & fats to compensate for the gluten they're lacking: If you're not worried about CC, rather than waste the food, measure out potions for yourself that you know you'll eat before it goes off and offer the rest to your neighbors or take to a shelter where they can definitely use the food.
Hope your bloating goes away and you have a Great Holiday Weekend :flowerforyou:0 -
I showed a mighty gain this morning as well. I'm blaming the carbs and salt. I'm just going to go back to eating right and working out this weekend. If it's not gone (plus some) by Monday morning, then I'll worry about it0

Me too! OMG...........but I think I burned a few calories jumping up and down on the scale, throwing it against the wall.......and to be sure I got both arms equally worked out, I picked it up and threw with the other hand :laugh:0

gluten free -- that's my boat too. I would suggest cutting goodies into small pieces -- One 8x8 brownie tray is supposed to serve 16 for example -- and one brownie comes in at roughly 150 calories. (I made brownies yesterday.) Then individually wrap and freeze. Having one a day or every other day is going to make you happy and will not hurt you. It will be a lot more satisfying then inhaling all of the cake, pie, cookies, etc. today. Good luck and what nice people you know to go out of their way to make gluten free treats, they aren't so easy.0

Couldn't resist the sweets yesterday, or the sweet potatoes apparently made with heavy cream and bananas. And one sweet just leads to another in my world. My version of an AA saying: one dessert is too many, a million aren't enough. Yikes! Going with the fruits and veggies plan today - I hope.0

Don't feel bad! Some of it is probably water weight. You probably consumed a lot more sodium than you're body is used to. Give it a few days and it will flush itself out. Just get back to eating right and working out!!!!

Thanks, people;
I know my mom was uber careful, not as sure about my aunt but I made the gluten free cornbread she used for the dressing and she didn't use any bread crumbs, and I provided the gluten free pasta for the macaroni at her request, so knock on wood. If it's from gluten I will be suffering for a week. For now no tell-tale abdominal swelling or skin breakouts, so I'm probably ok.
I know gluten-free isn't healthier, just a way for me to still enjoy my holiday favorites.
Anyway, chugging water as we speak and planning to work out hard today to sweat off the water....0
