Can't lose the last few pounds.

Ok, well heres the deal. I am new to weight loss and I have recently begun strength training over the past 6 months so bulk up.

I wasn't eating enough before this, and once i started working out i felt the urge to eat constantly. Although i made huge progress with strength training I gained about 30 pounds of bodyfat (some of it may have also came after quitting smoking)

I had a pretty big gut and I was pretty embarrassed about it. The last 3 months I have begun to try to count calories and diet. I have lost 20 pounds since April and went down from about 180 to 162 pounds.

About 2 years ago I was about 150-155, and I was looking really good and very confident in myself. Some people said I was too skinny but I thought i was almost perfectly proportioned. Although I didn't have much muscle.

I would like to hit that same spot this year, and maintain a fat free body.

I lost the first 10 pounds by a very simple equation.

I cut out the fact I was eating seconds at every meal, and the fact that other then my weight training, I was sitting around all day on the computer and doing almost nothing as far as excercise.

I began by doing long walks, eventually leading up to now about 25km walks everyday, sometimes followed by 30 minutes of cardio at the gym, and strength training. As I began to shed pounds I worked myself harder and harder to continue to lose, and eventually after losing about 8 pounds, I began to realize my weight wasn't moving anymore. I was staying at around 172-174.

I also had a hard time as summer came around and everyone wanted to have BBQs, go camping (with lots of food, alcohol) and party and although i maintained the weight loss I couldn't lose more. Now I have lost another 12 pounds by intermittently fasting, and eating about 1500-2000 calories while doing a 25km walk a day, or by burning approx 1000 calories doing cardio (that is walking 1 hour to the gym, half an hour of cardio, walking home 1 hour uphill) + strength training.

I am now sitting at about 162, and I have been unable to go below that. My goal now is to hit 158 and eventually go down to 155, and even down to 150 if my belly fat still covers my abs (I want to have abs for once in my life, been a goal for over 2 years now)

I am now begining to become exhausted from all the excercise, I feel I am excercise waaay to much (about 4-5 hours a day) and not eating enough (1800 calories is where i try to keep myself).

How can I eat 1800-2000 calories a day, and still burn this last 10 pounds off, without going ape**** at the gym or continuing this 20km I have been doing everyday. Winter is coming and I will probably be forced to become less active, and I really feel like I am still hungry after eating 1800-2000 calories. My BMR is apparantly around 1700, and I do not drive and do a minimum of about 10km a day walking (just to go about my daily buisness).

Do you weigh all your food? Log every bite, condiment, cooking oil, drink, etc.? The key is in the details. If you do not weigh everything solid, or don't track everything then you're only guessing about how many calories you are consuming.
  • i weigh all my food. I have a basic dietary plan I am following everyday. Usually I intermittently fast through the day and eat an 800 calorie meal, and tub of yogurt, and a coffee mug filled with frozen fruit. Thats it.

Some days I will change this up and eat a 1200-1300 calorie meal and a 450 calorie chocolate bar and some frozen fruit.

If this isn't enough for somebody to lose weight with going to the gym 4-5 times a week, doing 2-3 hour hikes on the weekends, and walking a minimum of 10km a day. I don't understand how weight loss could ever be possible and sustainable for anyone?

I mean its like saying 3 pb and j sandwiches come to 1500 calories or more. Some people on here are doing 1200 calorie diets to lose weight.

How could anybody even have the energy to walk to the store and back eating less then 3 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches a day?
