Sugar

Is anyone else as addicted to sugar as I am? I came clean to a friend recently about how much chocolate I eat in a day and she was disgusted! Frankly I am too, but I wondered if there was anyone out there who could join me on my attempt to cut out processed sugar from what feels like the only compound of my diet!

I used to be very obsessed with chocolate; I would eat a bar at a time! How I learned to control it is some simple steps

    1. Avoid having it in the house; if you want a treat, go out and eat it! That way your serving size will be limited and it'll be more expensive so you won't be going back for seconds.
    2. If you want chocolate, try going darker. I personally eat 85%ish so it's pretty healthy.
    3. Eat SLOWLY. I know it's really hard, but break off a square, sit down properly, and take time to taste the chocolate.
    4. Alternatives! Like a chocolate mug cake maybe? With a tablespoon of chocolate chips. Maybe yourself a single-serving dessert! (http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/tag/single-serving)

If you're looking for sugar, eat fruit. I know it's not as satisfying, but bloat yourself on fruit and maybe some yogurt and you'll be full! Sometimes I get bad sugar cravings too and I usually eat fruit with yogurt or even a quest protein bar.

i have a huge sugar addiction as well. total avoidance has been key for me, because one cookie (or piece of candy, or scoop of ice cream, or whatever) leads to another, and another, and another! i allow myself some sweet treats, of course, but ONLY in single-servings (such as one scoop of ice cream at an ice cream shop, a mini chocolate bar -- things that you can easily get in small amounts). i never buy boxes or bags, or the large sized chocolate bars (y'know, with ~4 servings in one bar), or a box of cake mix, a pint of ice cream, or anything that can allow me to have more than i should eat in front of me. if i'm at a party where unlimited sweets are readily available i have a hell of a time keeping myself limited to one or two servings -- that's my next area i need to work on.

    Hiya

I just did a Seven day challenge pledge on Facebook- #7daychallenge.

I am addicted sugar craver and seems like you are a finisher ( which i am too)- who loves finishing eating what they have started so I would recommend eating things like fruit or salad or have a diet pop (only recommend diet pop for a week so it helps you get the craving out of the sugar)

I did the challenge on Facebook and my friends joined in, I put pictures up of the sweet things i encountered. Too be honest I am so off the sweet stuff, within a week. Do not even crave it.

do the pledge on Facebook with! it so helps you and others.

    Two things.

    1. Don't keep it in the house.
    2. Go out to get it, but only buy single serve treats.

Either that or go cold turkey.

    Nice friend! :(

Demonizing food is not good. Remember, food is nourishment and sugar is part of that.

I did a no processed sugar thing for a few months. I felt pretty good during but it's not sustainable. If you are just trying to break the habit and feel that you can't control yourself I can get behind cutting it out altogether for a short period of time.

OR you can just plan out your day to leave a certain amount of chocolate for treats, pre-log the day, and not eat anything not in the log. You might enjoy that a heck of a lot more. I think it's important to treat yourself and I still eat ice cream, cookies, chocolate, etc.
