Sugar for breakfast

So for breakfast I made a smoothie

1 cup of coconut water
1 cup of frozen strawberries
1 frozen banana
1 cup of frozen raspberries
1 cup of spinach

I went over for my sugar intake, vitamin C and vitamin A

I mean did I over do it?
Is that bad for weight loss?

    No. You are fine.
Don't focus on tracking sugar, it isn't where you want to place your attention.

That is a HUGE smoothie. I agree that overall sugar intake is not determinative for weight loss, but you might want to exchange one of the berries for some yogurt or something. You could also add some oats or flax seed to make it a bit more substantial. I have never eaten a smoothie like this but I would guess that it would fill you up in the short term but not last you all morning.

(I love smoothies but I always use either milk or milk and yogurt as my base - full fat - keeps you more satiated.) I also use 1/2 cup frozen spinach, 1/4 c. berries and a banana and it ends up being a huge smoothie.

No. Eating more calories than you use/burn in a day is bad for weight loss. Unless you have some medical condition that requires it there's no need to worry about "going over" on sugar - although many around here will try to scare you into believing sugar is teh devil and will kill you. lolz.
  • My last boss always said "Fruit never made anybody fat". That is a lot of fruit for a smoothie and I wouldn't do that every day, but no more fruits today and maybe a little less tomorrow and you will be fine.

Why not do that every day, as long as the OP enjoys it, and calories fit into their day. There is no issue with going over in sugar unless they have a medical condition that wasn't shared.

Surprisingly it keeps me full during the morning.
It's really the only time during the day when i take in my fruit and veggie intake.
I try to have 3 big meals during the day around 500 calories each. (smoothie being one of them)

Going over on vitamins and minerals has no negative effect, especially the vitamins. If anything its positive.

I would definitely scale back the amount of fruit in that smoothie though, but if you like it, eat it. I rarely fuss about the cost of healthy food, but using fresh fruit, that one will get expensive quickly.

There's a thread on here somewhere about different smoothie recipes.
