Feeling Guilty

Incredibly, not about food - but the gym.

I got back on the wagon this month, and have been going 4 times a week doing a full 75 minute session (once with a trainer, the other 3 solo) and I try to get one weekend day in to do a longer endurance cardio (I usually do intervals during the week). My problem is, I have a lot of guilt when I don't go. I know in my head that 4+1 times a weeks is absolutely sufficient - I want to lose weight and get back to a more nutritious food regime but not at any cost. The problem is, on the days that I don't go to the gym, all I can think of is "i should go to the gym". Contrary to many people, I don't like outdoor, 'natural' exercising - going for a walk, a jog, participating in a sport is not alluring to me, I enjoy the structure and regime of the gym - but why can't I shake this guilty feeling!?

ARRGH! i need to get work done today but this guilt is distracting me!!!

Well give in to your desire and head to the gym, I exercise everyday unless I'm sick or injuried.

Nothing wrong with going to the gym... although I wouldn't recommend 75 mins a day every day. Maybe just go for a 1/2 hour on your rest days

I'd go to the gym too.
I don't have that option but if I did I think I'd be a permanent fixture at some point through the day.

i know what you mean about feeling guilty for not going and not wanting to do it outside.

I work 12 hour shifts on saturday and sunday and the gym is open only for the 12 hours that im at work. so i cant go before or after work!

i run 3 miles a day but with the cold weather i really REALLY hate going outside! i just cant tolerate cold (anything below 60)

but if you have the option to go ahead and make atleast a 30 minute session on your days that you dont plan to go it might be worth it to just go!

Workout at home then. If you have trouble getting in to the gym. Take what your learing and or check out workout that are online. There are tons and tons of them and do it at home. Thats what I do when I dont have time or the want to go to the gym :->

thanks guys - the gym is only a 10 minute walk from my house - but I am realizing that part of the guilt is wrapped up in procrastination (I tend to want to go to the gym when I know I should be working - I work from home, and vice versa) - I will take your advice and do a chunk of my circuit at home (have all the equipment), but somehow it doesn't feel "real" unless I am at the gym - silly, I know.
